This weekend we had a day trip to Cazorla National Park and village. Cazorla is located in The Sierras de Segura and it is the largest Natural Park in Spain. It has mountains, waterfalls, diverse wildlife and picturesque villages. It is only 30 minutes away from Ubeda and it is a wonderful treasure. We had a terrific tour guide, Jesús. He took us all the way to the very top of the park where we found a beautiful lake to swim. After visiting the park we toured the town and saw the ruins of the old Santa María church. We also visited the Church of " La Virgen de la Cabeza" who is the patron of the town. Finally, we climbed even more to visit the museum of "Tradiciones y Costumbres" which is an old castle with a very interesting legend. The legend tells the story of a princess who hid for years in a cell from the moors until she died . This cell is only opened once a year, on the Museum World day but because we were such a special group and visited the day after this special date, they opened the cell for us. |
