TOLEDO
June 15
| Our last
day prior to departure we went to Toledo.  We took AVE or RENFE,
a fast speed train.  It was raining the entire day but we still
managed to enjoy ourselves.  In Toledo we visited the Cathedral
which is actually my favorite Cathedral in Spain.  We also
visited El Museo de Santa Cruz, which is a beautiful

			16th-century with outstanding façades, ats
courtyard and staircase. The museum's collection features three
sections devoted to the Roman, Visigoth, Moorish and Mudéjar
cultures.  These sections or collections explain a lot about
Spanish history and culture.  We ate lunch right after the
museum at a small local restaurant.  We all got El plato del
día which in Spain is the cheapest value can order.  It is
similar to a combo.  It usually includes, a salad or appetizer,
entre dish with meat and vegetable, bread and a drink.

El Greco's house was under restoration so we visited a reduced collection in a smaller location. Finally we visited L Iglesia de Santo Tomé which houses, perhaps, el Greco's most famous paiting El entierro del Conde Orgaz, (The burial of Orgaz, The Burial of Count Orgaz. |
