We have been over all of these in class. On the test I will give you a few lines from one
of them to translate.
Grammar:
- Indirect statement (including all 6 infinitives)
- Gerunds and gerundives (including passive
periphrastic)
- Comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs
- The same Subjunctive uses
we studied in the first half of the semester:
- jussive subjunctive
- purpose clauses
- result clauses
- cum clauses
- conditional sentences (know hoe to read both simple
fact [indicative] and contrary to fact [subjunctive] sentences
- indirect question
- indirect command
You should be able to read/translate sentences using
these structures.
Vocabulary:
You will be specifically tested on the
Hannibal vocabularies and the
Intellegenda vocabularies. These are the
vocabularies from the various specific readings through the term that we have
specifically studied/reviewed. Some of these have flash cards available on
the Old Assignments page.
Test format:
The test will consist of:
- (1a) Vocabulary: a vocabulary matching exercise
drawing from all vocabularies
- (1b) A dictionary form exercise where you will give
dictionary form and meaning in sentence from underlined words in a connected
reading passage
- (2) A Gender-number-case exercise from a connected
reading passage
- (3) A verb analysis from a connected reading
passage
- (4) Translation of several sentences
in different forms from the connected reading passage
- (5) Four short reading passages, of which you may
omit one, from the readings we have done in class.
