Six critical thinking exercises will
be handed out during the course of the semester that contain one or more cases. Each
student should read the case and come prepared to discuss them. Material from the
cases will be on the exams. In addition, each student must complete 4 of the 6
critical thinking exercises. If students wish to complete five or six assignments,
then I will take the best 4 grades. Each assignment involves preparing a one to two
page memorandum. Your memo should follow the guidelines
for analyzing cases and preparing memos provided on this web site. |

Each student must complete all three case
analysis assignments. Each student should read the case and come prepared to discuss
it. The reading for these cases is on reserve in the
library. The readings will be supplemented with handouts and video
clips. These cases are
longer and more complicated than the critical thinking exercises and students should allow
more time to prepare their assignments. Each assignment involves preparing a two
page memorandum. Your memo should follow the guidelines
for analyzing cases and preparing memos provided on this web site. |

During the first few weeks of class, project teams will be created
with four to
five people depending on the class size. Each project team will be responsible for
developing a grant proposal that responds to the request for
proposals on the course web site. Each project
team will also make a presentation to the class describing their proposal.
The class will then select the winning proposals. |
