Movies that Might Be of Interest

Contact (1997) starring Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey:   One of the themes that runs through the movie is the tension between a man of faith and a women of science.  The movie raises interesting questions about this tension and in the end Foster is left to rely on her "faith" that the events she experienced actually occurred.
Planet of the Apes (1967) starring Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowall:  While the movie explores themes of racial tensions prevalent at the time, one of the sub themes is also the tension between science and religion as the Ape leaders ultimately choose to reject evidence that in this case apes had evolved from man. Movie was nominated for two Academy awards.
