REPORTS

These will be reports which are typed with double-spacing and 12 pt font. You will be expected to use correct English grammar and punctuation. Do not just list the answers, but put everything into proper sentence and paragraph form. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE text from the Internet.  You should show that you have read and digested the material. All work that is not yours is supposed to be supported with a bibliography whenever write. Grades are typically given based upon proper, answering questions, and evidence of the effort made. You are expected to list references, including non-electronic library materials.

Paper #1 Nobel Prize - Due October 12th

Make sure you follow the general directions for the format, including that you are not just listing the questions and answering them, but writing an essay of substantial length.   • Who won this year's physics prize and what for? (It should be posted by the due date.)

  • What are the origins of the Noble Prizes and what fields are represented?

  • What were the top five countries from which Nobel (physics) winners came?

  • How many women have received Nobel prizes in physics?

  • Has anyone received more than two physics prizes?

  • Pick and describe at length in your own words an area and the person awarded a Nobel Prize before 1940 and which you find particularly interesting. See QMhistory for a list.

  • What have you learned that you did not know before?
