Our group is broadly interested in studying the factors that influence student learning in chemistry.  As such, our work is situated at a number of disciplinary boundaries, including chemistry, education, psychology, and sociology.  Drawing upon these diverse traditions, we are specifically interested in:

  1.      factors that influence meaningful/rote learning in chemistry;

  2.      factors that influence epistemological development in chemistry;

  3.      the development of representational competence in chemistry;

  4.      and,  the use of technology in teaching chemistry.

This site serves as an introduction to our research and the members of our group.  Students who are interested in research opportunities in the group should contact Dr. Grove for more details.
