Previous Students

Erin Scher

Erin Scher has a Bachelor's of Science in Marine Science with a minor in Coastal Geology from Coastal Carolina University. She is currently finishing her Master's thesis on the effects of hurricane sedimentation on Masonboro Island marshes using sedimentary observations and GIS. She is also currently employed as research assistant under Dr. Eman Ghoneim. She hopes to graduate from the UNCW Department of Geography and Geology in August 2011 and continue researching with the department. Her research interests include land/sea interactions, global climate, coastal features, and oceanography.

Gigi Mashaly Baggarley

Gigi completed her Bachelor's degree in Geology with an Environmental Studies minor at UNCW. Her main interests are water quality, remediation of contaminated groundwater, and water resources. She has been interning with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources/Division of Water Quality for three years and is currently enrolled in the graduate GIS certificate program at UNCW.

Seth Rose

Seth has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a concentration a criminology from Coastal Carolina University. After taking some time off, he decided to return to college to pursue a degree in Applied Geography with a minor in Geospatial Technology. His research interests include implementation of technology in geographic research, demographic transitions, and the application and integration of remote sensing and GIS technology in developing accurate research results and analyses. He is currently a research assistant for Dr. Eman Ghoneim performing research on TRMM data and hydrological modeling. He is expecting to graduate this December and hopes to continue his research through employment.
