Chapter 1-1

Introduction to various areas (ほう)/prefectures (けん)/cities (), and regional products.

Objectives:

To be able to name 4 islands, areas, major Japanese prefectures and cities and locate them on a map.
To be able to match up regional products and souvenirs to their descriptions and pictures.
To be able to ask/tell how long it takes from one place to another by a certain transportation method.
To be able to tell how many prefectures (including To, Do, & Fu) there are in Japan.
To be able to tell, by looking at the chart of regional products and souvenirs, which prefecture is famous for what type of local specialities.

東京関東地方にあります。 Tokyo is located in Kanto area. (Lit. There is Tokyo in Kanto area)

静岡富士山で有名です  Shizuoka is famous for Mr. Fuji.

東京から静岡まで新幹線1時間半ぐらいかかります。 近いです。 From Tokyo to Shizuoka, it takes about an hour and half.  Close.
