Prep for 1-11-00

Review the forms of the Imperfect tense.  If you want, check out this review sheet (from Latin 101) -- it has a practice sheet attached (unfortunately not interactive).

Then, check out these interactive exercises:  (On the left screen, scroll down to chapter 17 and click on it.  Then do the exercises labeled as follows:

  • In this exercise, drill the second and third principal parts of verbs you know.
  • In this exercise, practice formation of the imperfect tense.
  • In this exercise, practice using the imperfect tense.

Warning -- the third one is hard!

Also -- just look over the book.  Dip your toes into the reading (which is a lot, if you have used a grammar-based course in school before).  Read the cultural material.

Reflect that if you were doing this work in ancient Rome, you would be working from a scroll and reading by the flickering light of an oil lamp.

See you in class!
