Curation Facts

Collection & Artifacts Handling

  • Always wear gloves when handling the artifacts.
  • If possible move around the object rather than picking it up.
  • Remember to use two hands when picking up the artifacts.

Curation & Exhibition

  • Exhibit Titling – Must capture the visitor’s attention, and at the same time inform them of the exhibit’s topic. Use both a title and sub-title to accomplish this.
  • Main Label/Idea Text – In 2-3 sentences provide a brief summary of what the exhibit is about.
  • Object Labels – In 1-3 sentences describe your object and how it relates to the exhibit main topic. Labels should be short and straightforward, but still informative.
  • Exhibit Layout – When assembling your exhibit remember that you are telling a story.  When moving through the exhibit, the artifacts should read like a book.  The objects need to be positioned so that their interpretations complement one another.

Sample Label Text
