Alternate cover for Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter: Circus of the Damned. Has the same ACE Letter-Number series code.

00239-4 JACK LUZZATTO ACE Crossword Puzzle Book #1 (nd; 1st ACE printing; crossword/puzzle books)

00241-0 JACK LUZZATTO ACE Crossword Puzzle Book #2 (1969; 1st ACE printing; crossword/puzzle books)

00293-5 LAURELL K. HAMILTON The Lunatic Cafe (1996; 12 ACE printing; vampire genre)

Another "Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter" novel. I am not sure if the correct title for this group of vampire-mystery stories should be appended (for the ACE editions) with this addition. If anyone knows - please drop me an e-note. Thanks.

00374-5 LAURELL K. HAMILTON Bloody Bones (1996; 15th ACE printing; vampire genre)

00409-1 ROBERT A. HEINLEIN Tramp Royale (1996; 1st thus; biography)

More a travelogue than a biography, but gives an important insight into the mind and experiences of one of the most important science fiction authors of the 20th century. I am also putting this in the five-digit numerical series Science Fiction Singles section.

00421 ELISABETH BING The Adventure of Birth (c.1970; listed as "first paperback publication"; child birth)

00524-1 LAURELL K. HAMILTON Burnt Offerings (1998; 4th ACE printing; vampire genre)

New and original stories drawing on a diverse range of characters ranging from Doc Holliday to Mata Hari. Contributors include Elizabeth Moon, Carole Nelson Douglas, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Jerry Oltion, Rod Garcia Y Robertson, Margaret Ball, Janet Berliner, David Bischoff , Gary Braunbeck, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Tom Knowles, Lillian Stewart Carl, Sharan Newman, Sandy Schofield, and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough.

00701-5 T. A. BARRON The Seven Songs of Merlin (2000; ACE fantasy)

00703-5 L. A. LIVERAKOS The Shadows Between: Poltergeist The Legacy (October 2000; 1st ACE printing; horror)

This is another TV tie-in noveliation. Based upon the television series created by Richard Barton Lewis. I am not quite certain how the title should be listed, especially since the only way I can set it up based on the ACE Letter-Number scheme does not correspond to the title on the cover.

00765-1 BAVID BARBOUR and RICHARD RALEIGH Shadow's Bend (2000; 1st ACE printing: horror)

The premise is to put H. P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard together to fight Cthulhu.

00774-0 ELAINE BERGSTROM Blood to Blood (nd; later printing)

00853-4 CHARLAINE HARRIS Dead Until Dark (2001; 1st ACE printing; vampire genre)

Charlaine Harris was an award nominee for the 2002 Dilys Award.

These are pretty funny vampire, werewolf (and assorted other were-beasts), and human (somewhat) stories set in a New Orleans that is a bit off the usual tourist locations. Lots of strange bits and curious juxtapositions. Southern Vampire Mystery. Source for the HBO TV series "True Blood."

00858-5 P. N. ELROD (ed.) Dracula in London (2001; 1st thus)

Short story collection including vampire stories by Fred Saberhagen, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Tanya Huff, and others.

00865-8 ROBIN McKINLEY Spindle's End (June 2001; 1st ACE printing; ACE Gothic Romance)

01419-0 CHARLAINE HARRIS Definitely Dead (c.2006; 2007; 1st ACE printing)

01419-0 (back cover)

More of the "Southern vampire Mystery" series. Oh, the level to which "southern literature" will extend itself. Currently being used as the basis for the HBO television series "True Blood."

01530-1 DEL HOWISON and JEFF GELB (eds.) Dark Delicacies: Original Tales of Terror and the Macabre by the World's Greatest Horror Writers (2007; 1st ACE printing; horror)

Short story collection with works by Clive Barker, Ray Bradbury, Whitley Strieber, F. Paul Wilson, and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. Foreword by Richard Matheson.

Note how these horror/vampire/gothic vampire stories are dumped into this ACE Letter-Number series and are horribly out-of-sequence (pun intended!).

01571-9 BRAD STEIGER Alien Meetings (1978; occult/paranormal)

01571-9 (back cover)

01625 DICK LUPOFF and DON THOMPSON (eds.) All in Color for a Dime (1970; 1st ACE printing and PBO; non-fiction)

01760 FRANK G. SLAUGHTER Apalachee Gold (c.1956; 1971; 2nd ACE printing; historical fiction)

Originally published as ACE D-191 (1956) using the different cover art.

01960 MIRIAM LYNCH The Deadly Rose and Amber Twilight (c.1968; March 1976; 1st ACE printing )

AIL Users - this is s'posed to be an ACE Double in the same format as the single cover, two story edition such as in the later Science Fiction five digit series. In addition, I also have these stories cross-listed as being published in the Belmont Double format (Amber Twilight in B60-066 and The Deadly Rose in B60-068; this one I have).

Yes, found a copy (10 November 2010). Listed as "An ACE Double Gothic" and "Two Complete Gothics." This is the only Gothic Double I have found, but note that it is 'way out of sequence' with the ACE Letter-Number series.

03 October 2014.  Yes, I have found another ACE Double Gothic with the single cover format (ACE 09245), but placed properly in the ACE Letter-Number series. If any AIL users have more of these Gothic Doubles, please let me know. Thanks.

02025-9 JACK TIPPIT Amy: Everybodys Sweetheart (cover by Jack Tippit; 1978; newspaper comic strip)

02270-7 JANE BLACKMORE And Then There Was Georgia (November 1975; 1st ACE printing; ACE Gothic Novel)

02270-7 (back cover)

Banner headline is "First Paperback Publication"

02273 LOUIS CHARBONNEAU And Hope To Die (c.1979; nd; ACE Star edition)

02284-7 JANE BLACKMORE Angel's Tear (April 1974; 1st ACE printing; ACE Gothic Novel)

02300 WILLEY LEY Another Look At Atlantis (1969; 1st ACE printing; ACE Star edition)

A collection of short fact articles written for the general public on topics ranging from the myth of Atlantis, the sound of meteors, and the relationships between the dodo, the moa, and pangolin.

02301-0 JANE BLACKMORE Angel's Tear (c.1974; nd; 2nd ACE printing; ACE Gothic Novel)

This is also a bit odd.  The cover art depicts a time mix-up (clothing is the clue) and thus is this a cross-over Gothic - Fantasy?  Have to check more on this.  Please note the cover art depiction on ACE 02284-7 is much more in the line of Gothic.

02332-0 MARY BRINKER POST Annie Jordan (c.1948; 1981; historical romance)

A bit of ACE weirdness here.  Originally published by Doubleday in 1948.  The ACE printing is listed as 1981, however the ACE logo on the cover was (s'posedly) discontinued in 1978.  In addition, the price definitely is not what would be marked for a 1978 printing, but still seems too high for 1981.  More on this later.

02400 RICHARD CONDON Any God Will Do (c.1966; nd)

02585-4 GARY POOLE The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (1979; 1st ACE printing and PBO; photo cover - and back - from film footage)

02595-1 (back cover)

02600 GEORGETTE HEYER April Lady (c.1957; 1964; nd; 2nd ACE printing; ACE Romance)

02601 GEORGETTE HEYER April Lady (c.1957; 1964; nd; 3rd ACE printting; ACE Romance)

April Lady was originally published as ACE K-201 (1964) with the same cover art. This is another example of the renumbering of old stock, but makes it difficult to define which is the true 2nd ACE printing. The only way is by the pricing: ACE 02600 was 50 cents whereas ACE 02601 was 75 cents.

02680 SUSAN HOWATCH April's Grave (1969; nd; ACE Star edition; ACE Gothic Novel)

02681 SUSAN HOWATCH April's Grave (c.1969; nd; ACE Star edition; ACE Gothic Novel)

Note the white block for the ACE Letter-Number series. This suggests reuse of old stock.  However, ACE 02680 does not have the white block for the letter-number series, although they both use the same cover art, so the question is which is the true 2nd edition.

02891 GEORGETTE HEYER Arabella (c.1967; nd; ACE Romance)

Arabella was originally published as ACE H-023 (1967).

02895 MAURICE DRUON The Ardent Infidels (nd; historical romance)

02900 JAY SCOTLAND (aka JOHN JAKES) Arena (cover by Robert Maguire; c.1963; 2nd ACE printing; historical fiction)

Originally published as ACE G-520 (1963) with the same cover art. This appears to be another example of a re-numbered old stock.

02940 RONA RANDALL (aka RONA SHAMBROOK) The Arrogant Duke (c.1966; 1972; 1st ACE printing; ACE Regency Romance)

03060 Dr. ALBERT ELLIS and ROGER O. CONWAY The Art of Erotice Seduction (c.1967; 1972; 1st ACE printing; ACE Star edition; photo cover; non-fiction)

OK - ACE Books strikes again.  These three (3) printings ALL have the same copyright page and lists the printings as May 1975 and 1st ACE printing.  ACE 07120 has a different back cover (with another image from the TV show).  Probably the only way to get a handle on which was printed first will be to look at the advertisement and see if that can shed some light on this issue.  Now, which box are these in?
