METHODS
OF SOCIAL RESEARCH SOC 300 DISCUSSION TOPIC 6: SURVEYS |
Design a survey research project to answer
your research question. Your design should include 1) whether you will do a mail,
telephone or face-to-face survey and why you choose that method, 2) a few of the
topics that your survey questions will address (you don’t have to have the
exact wording of the questions, we will do that in the Measurement section of
the course), and 3) a rough idea of how you will obtain/find people to survey (i.e.,
your ideas on sampling; again you don’t need to get specific here).
If a survey would be
impossible or implausible to answer your research question, describe why.
If you studied your research question using a survey, what risks might people involved in your study incur? Think about all the potential risks involved in your research. If you argue that a survey could not be used to study your question, are there ethical reasons for this conclusion? If so, what are they?
