DISCUSSION TOPIC 11: MEASUREMENT

Do a web search on “quality of life.”  Go to several of the websites you find.  What are the various conceptualizations of “quality of life” in use at these websites?  How do they operationalize quality of life?  How would you propose to measure "quality of life" in a study on the Best Places to Live in the U.S.?

What is the main concept in your research question?  In a study using whatever data collection method you think is best, how would you conceptualize and operationalize this concept?  For example, if you think an experiment would be best, how would you measure this concept?  If you think a qualitative interview would be best, how would you measure this concept?
