JPN 211 Contemporary Japanese Culture
revised April 30, 2018

Summer II On-line

You can be anywhere in the world (in Japan or in the U.S.) to take this course.  While the students staying in Japan experience the Japanese society at first-hand, the students in the U.S. will deepen their understanding of Japanese culture from reading materials/books/discussion board with the American classmates staying in Japan.  The requirements and course materials are slightly different between students in Japan and those in the U.S.

UNCW Syllabus

Go to http://uncw.instructure.com/ to participate in the course  (we do not use Blackboard for this course anymore).

Learning strategies include discussion of topics from the assigned readings related to Japanese tradition, practices, mannerism, society and culture in general. Before the trip to Japan, the course can be taken on campus or on-line.

UNCW students at OKU and ASU will further enforce their leanings and develop their acquired cultural skills by attending lectures and excursions in Japan. The course is conducted in English and demands the active voluntary participation of each student in class and on the Blackboard discussion.
