| Career Development & Portfolio | 
	
		| An important focus of the Capstone 
		experience is on career and professional development.  Accordingly, 
		students will be required to participate in several in class exercises 
		including  the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Instrument and a Career 
		Anchors Inventory.  This is also professional program and 
		the most important measure of your success in the program may be getting 
		a job that allows you to continue developing your professional skills 
		and helps advance your career goals.  Since most students will be entering the job market while completing the 
		class, you will be required to complete the following materials: |

			|  | Develop a professional resume 
			for a desired position; and, |  |  | Develop a portfolio that 
			contains examples of work products that demonstrate your 
			professional skills, abilities, and competencies |  | 
	
		|  | 
	
		| Several of the
		required journal entries are also 
		designed to help with career planning (see that web page for more 
		details).  For example, you will be required to: | 
	
		|  | 
	
		| 
			|  | Assess your strengths and 
			weaknesses as a professional (required journal entry #1) |  |  | Interview a potential career 
			role model or mentor (required journal entry #2) |  |  | Develop a career strategy 
			(required journal entry #3); |  | 
	
		|  | 
	
		| Finally, you will also be required 
		to apply for a job that advances your career strategy (required journal 
		entry #6).  We will use these short reflective assignments as the 
		basis for discussing a variety of issues related to career and 
		professional development. |
