Biography |
|
Mark T. Imperial is an Associate Professor
and Director of the
Master
of Public Administration (MPA) Program in the
Department of
Public and International Affairs at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where
he teaches classes in public and nonprofit management, public policy analysis, coastal
planning and management, and environmental policy analysis. He
supervises the internships (PLS 598) and practicums (PLS 594) and teaches
the following classes in the MPA program: |

His
research interests focus on collaboration, institutional analysis, and
various topics related to watershed and environmental management. His
research has been published in Administration & Society,
International Journal of Organizational Theory and Behavior,
Environmental Management, Coastal Management, Natural Resource
Journal, Society and Natural Resources, Public Works
Management & Policy, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly,
and Journal of Public Affairs Education.
His research has also been published by the
National Academy of Public Administration
(download reports) and the
IBM center for the Business of
Government (download report).
He currently
serves on the editorial board of
Environmental
Management. |

Professionally, he has worked as a policy analyst for
the Rhode Island
Coastal Resources Management Council.
He
currently works as a consultant
and conducts research projects for local governments such as
conducting surveys, program evaluations, and has developed coastal land and
water use plans. Some of his clients have been the City of Wilmington,
Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, St.
James, and Emerald Isle.

Imperial received a B.A. in Marine Science from the University of Miami in
1989, a M.A. in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island in 1993,
and a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from Indiana University in 2001. |
