Repetition

The principle of repetition states that you repeat some aspect of the design throughout the entire piece.  For example, consider bold font, a thick rule/line, a kind of bullet, color, design element, format,  spacing.  Think also of consistency.
  • Start with your headings or subheadings
  • Remember that you are also creating unity among the pages
  • repetition helps organzie the design and leads the reader
  • graphic elements can also be repeated (bullets, clip art, images, etc.)
  • Create new elements from old ones or ones already in use

The purpose of repetition is to unify and to add visual interest.  Repetition is useful on one-page documents and critical for multi-page documents (being consistent).
