When you open a Microsoft Word document, you have preset left tab stops every
one-half inch across the ruler. This is a handy setup for most tasks. But you
also can set your own tabs that will override the preset tabs. Those tabs can
be changed to be Left, Right, Center, or Decimal type tabs. Let's take a closer
look...
To set a tab stop:
1. On the ruler, double-click where you want the tab stop. Works will display
the Format Tabs dialog box.
2. Click the Alignment option you want: Left, Right, Center, Decimal
3. Click OK.
4. Notice that you now have a small tab marker added to your ruler.
OR...Here's another way:
1. On the Format menu, click Tabs.
2. Type the position of the tab stop you want to add.
3. Click the Alignment option you want: Left, Right, Center, Decimal.
4. Click Set.
5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 until you have set all the tab stops you want.
6. Click OK.
To remove tab stops that you added to the ruler:
1. Click and hold the mouse down on the small tab marker.
2. Drag the tab marker down OFF the ruler and then let go.
3. The tab marker will disappear.
