In mathematical genealogy, your "mathematical parent" is your PhD thesis advisor. My mathematical ancestry includes C. F. Gauss, the father of modern number theory; Leonhard Euler, one of the most prolific mathematicians of all time; G. Peter Lejeune Dirichlet, another giant in number theory and analysis; J. L. Lagrange, famous for his contributions to calculus, group theory, number theory and mathematical physics; and several contributors to the foundations of calculus: Leibniz, Fourier, Poisson, and the Bernoullis.
