Course Definitions

Instructions: Using on the course textbook define the following terms using the prescribed definition format. If the format is not followed the assignment will receive a grade of zero.

Chapter 2 Terms

user interface, command interpreter, shells, system call, lock shared data, messaging-passing model (communication), shared-memory model, registry, layered operating system, microkernel, virtual machine, core dump.

Format for defining terms: Each term should be placed on a separate line using the following format term (pg # of definition) - definition.
Example: bit (6) - the basic unit of computer storage.
