Course Definitions

Instructions: Using on the course textbook define the following terms using the prescribed definition format. If the format is not followed the assignment will receive a grade of zero.

Chapter 1 Terms

operating system, kernel, bootstrap program, system call, device driver, symmetric multiprocessing, job pool, process, cache management, network operating system, real-time operating system.

Format for defining terms: Each term should be placed on a separate line using the following format term (pg # of definition) - definition.
Example: bit (6) - the basic unit of computer storage.
