Dr. Okine has been a part-time faculty member in the Department of Psychology at UNCW since 2001. She has taught undergraduate psychology classes since 1996, including Statistics, Psychopathology, Research Methods, Introduction to Experimental Psychology, Principles of Behavioral Change, Child Development, Human Sexuality, and Human Motivation and Emotion. In addition to teaching, Dr. Okine has also served as the Clinical Director of the Chrysalis Center for Counseling and Eating Disorder Treatment in Wilmington since 2003. Prior to that, she coordinated eating disorder treatment at 3 major universities across the nation, including UNCW, provided clinical services in numerous university counseling centers, worked as a substance abuse counselor in an adolescent substance abuse treatment program, and served as a hotline counselor on a national crisis line. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Stanford University in 1994, an M.A. in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1996, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University in 2000. She completed a predoctoral internship at Suffolk University Counseling Center and a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.
