*The Department of Psychology offers a program
leading to the Master of Arts in psychology. The specific goals of
the programs are to emphasize the scientific methods and
principles common to all fields of psychology. Within the
program there are two separate concentrations:
1)
a general psychology program concentration with a major goal
to prepare students for entry into doctoral programs in applied
or experimental psychology.
2)
a substance abuse treatment psychology concentration. The
purpose of this concentration is to help students for the North
Carolina Psychological Associate Licensure Examination and
the North Carolina Clinical Addictions Specialist Examination.
The graduate school at UNC – Wilmington is
currently accepting applications from students applying to either
psychology graduate program. Upon acceptance, graduate students may
have the opportunity to work in the laboratory. The BEACH LAB
is currently funded by several grants from the
National
Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and the
National
Cancer Institute. Students working
in the laboratory may receive funding and will have the opportunity to
run subjects, conduct experimental screenings, assist in data analysis
and supervise undergraduate assistants. For more information, please
contact Dr. Noel or the
UNCW Office of Graduate Admission.
