Current Research

Perceptions of Workplace Sexual Harassment

We are currently conducting research examining two aspects surrounding perceptions of
sexual harassment: (1) how the occupation itself may shape beliefs about whether the behavior
is judged to be harassing or not and (2) how attitudes surrounding gender roles may impact
judgments of harassment.

Job Satisfaction, Job Burnout, and Turnover in Nursing Home Employees

We are completing data collection on a study examining the relation between job satisfaction,
burnout, and intent to quit in a multisite study of elder care nursing employees.  One of the
primary factors we are examining is how one’s tendency to seek equity in social interactions
with others may establish a propensity toward burnout and low job satisfaction.

Hardiness, health goals, and health habits in college students

We are investigating how college students cope with work stress.  Some actively engage in
more healthy behaviors when stressed, others engage in less healthy behaviors (e.g., smoking
and drinking).  We are examining whether health goals mediates the stress—health behavior
relation.

Validation of the Pretrial Juror Bias Questionnaire

We are currently conducting a number of studies on the Pretrial Juror Bias Questionnaire
(Lecci & Myers, 2003). This is scale designed to predict verdicts in criminal trials based on
criminal justice attitudes individuals may hold.  This research is taking place in collaboration
with Dr. Lecci and students in his lab.

Perceptions of Recovered Memory Therapy

We are currently investigating how individuals judge the accuracy of memories uncovered in
memory recovery therapy, along with their beliefs in the competency of therapists who engage
in these activities.
