January Meeting: This month is the annual Teacher Swap of Activities, coordinated by Kim Eadie. The theme for this year is: "Creative Language Activities for Grammar and Vocabulary." But all ideas are welcome! Please bring 20-25 copies of your idea to share. If anyone would like to follow up on our November discussion of Evaluation of Participation and Classroom Management, those ideas would be useful, too.

Also, scholarship forms for high school teachers to nominate students will be distributed so that the selection can be made by the March meeting.

Spanish language film "Solas": Thalian Hall, Feb. 12-14.

Watch for the new, local Spanish-language newspaper, "Mundo Latino" published locally and available around town.

LIFT OFF! The Graduate Certificate Program in Hispanic Studies is officially approved! Four students are enrolled in class in Spring 2001.  The summer graduate class will be offered in the Santander Study Abroad Program at the University of Cantabria. Deadline for application is Feb. 12. Fall offering(s) will be announced in a few weeks. 

Upcoming Professional Meetings

SCOLT 2001 Conference will take place at Myrtle Beach, SC, March 8 -10.  Registration deadline is Jan. 22. For more information, email lynnemcc@mindspring.com .
