Special characters and diacritical marks for Spanish:

If you work on a PC (as opposed to Mac) with microsoft word, wordperfect etc.... try this. (If they don't work at first, engage the numbers lock to the right of the keyboard and see if they work then):

Hold down the ALT key while you type in the indicated numbers on the number pad to the right:

alt + 160 = á         alt + 164 = ñ         alt + 144 = É
alt + 130 = é         alt + 165 = Ñ         alt + 154 = Ü
alt + 161 = í           alt + 168 = ¿         alt + 174 = «
alt + 162 = ó         alt + 173 = ¡           alt + 175 = »
alt + 163 = ú         alt + 129 = ü
