CSC 105 SAM Setup Instructions
- From your preferred Browser, go to
http://sam.cengage.com, and click on the System Check button to check
your System Requirements. We will be using SAM 2016, so ignore any warning about Flash. If any adjustments
are necessary, refer to
the SAM System Requirements Guide (PDF) or contact SAM Tech Support. Repeat the System Check until there are no errors other than the Flash warning.

- Either purchase a SAM access code from
http://www.cengagebrain.com/course/1548624, or purchase one from the UNCW bookstore. (Do not purchase a SAM code online from any other website – and do not purchase it directly from the SAM login page - it will not give access to UNCW’s required material.) If you purchase from the UNCW bookstore, ask at the desk for the printed SAM access codes.
You can still create your account and use SAM for two weeks before purchasing the access code. (The site will be ready long before then.)
Go to sam.cengage.com to set up your account; click on “New User”. In the future you will use this link to return to SAM and enter the username/password created in the steps below to Log In.

- Enter the Institution Key (T2032902), and confirm that UNCW is the correct institution.
- Either enter the 18-digit SAM Access Code that you purchased and click the Save button, or select
Enter later
- Fill out the New User Profile page, and use your UNCW email address for the username. You do not need to answer any parts that are not required by SAM.

Click Save, and Save again on the confirmation page.
- Read the License Agreement, and accept it.
- Sam will launch for the first time, and you should see the following message. Click OK. (instructions are below, so you don’t need to click the button for instructions.
- Click the Sections link at the top of the page and then Join a Section

- Find your section by locating your instructor’s last name on the left and
then click the corresponding Join Section icon on the right:

- Click on Activities, and you have completed the set-up steps. Both the
Activity Calendar and the Activity List tabs will take you to assignments.
Most students find the Activity List tab to be easier to understand than the
Activity Calendar. If it's checked, you can de-select the box at the top of the
activity calendar to make the Activity List the default view.
