These five studies in emotion, ranging from
intrapersonal to interpersonal to intergroup
processes, work together to connect some dots in emotion and conflict
research. We address both the experience and expression of emotions, we
include positive and negative, general and discrete emotions, we
discuss the perception and interpretation of emotions as well as their
impact on behavior and outcomes, and we examine emotion in multiple
conflict situations. This panel reflects our shared recognition of the
important role emotion plays in conflict, as well as our individual
endeavors to advance research that furthers such an understanding.
