Become...   “…なる・なります”

The verb “なる・なります” (Class 1) means to become, to turn into, etc.　When “なる・なります” is followed right after noun or adjectives to mean “changing into the state of noun or adjective, please follow the rules below.

Noun + “に”	+ “なります (なる)”
Na-adjective + “に”
Root of い-adjective + “く” (Change い ending into く)

 

その女の人は年をとって、きれいではなくなりました。The woman has aged and became not pretty. 
今年(ことし)、２０才(さい)になるので、成人式(せいじんしき)に行きます。Since（I）become 20 years old this year, I will go to “coming of age” ceremony.
将来(しょうらい)、有名(ゆうめい)になりたいです。 (I) want to become famous in the future. 
大(おお)きくなりました。　(I, something, etc. ) became big.
秋は、木々の葉っぱが赤くなって、紅葉がとてもきれいです。 In fall, the tree leaves turns red, and autumn leaves are very pretty.
夏は、きゅうりやトマトが安くなって、野菜がおいしい季節です。In summer, cucumber and tomato become cheap, and it is a season of tasty vegetables.
日本人は、お酒を飲むと、顔が赤くなります。When(ever) a Japanese drink sake (and what is  naturally following is), his/her face becomes red.
毎日日本語を練習すると、上手になります。If you study Japanse every day, you will be good at it.　
ごはんを食べると、眠たくなります。When(ever) we eat a meal, we becomes drowsy.
魚（さかな）は、ふるくなると、美味しくなくなります。When the fish becomes old, it becomes not tasty.
