Famous for…       …で有名(ゆうめい)です

 

 有名means ”the condition of being famous/ fame/ celebrity/ well-known” or “to be famous/ well-known.” It is a Na-adjective so remember to add な in using it followed by a noun.  When talking about “something is famous for something,” でparticle is used. 

 

Topic は nounで有名です。

静岡(しずおか)は富士山(ふじさん)で有名です。  Shizuoka is famous for Mr. Fuji.

Practice II. Here is the map indicating all the prefectures in Japan. Try to locate the prefectures, which have some popular Japanese souvenir items.
