    • Eman Ghoneim, associate professor in the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences, was recently selected to be part of the USA women leaders team at the 10th International Women Leaders in Science, Technology and Engineering (STEM) Conference held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The conference was hosted in the State of Kuwait October 23-25, 2017 by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) in collaboration with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the U.S. Department of State. The conference aimed to celebrate accomplished international women role models from six continents by sharing success stories and strategies to inspire the next generation of women and maximize the potential of a STEM education. Among the attendees were some of the most notable women scientists whose contributions in science, technology, engineering and mathematics created a great impact on their fields locally and globally.

    • Eman Ghoneim, an associate professor in the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences and the director of the Remote Sensing Research Lab, was among 30 prominent Egyptian women leaders from around the world selected to present at the “Egyptian Women Can" Conference, a summit on women’s empowerment in Egypt. The summit was sponsored by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Ghoneim received a presidential invitation from the Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs to attend the July 2-3 conference held in Cairo. The goal of the conference was to recognize the achievement of Egyptian women in the areas of science and economics.
