About

Ms. Dorothy Dempsey has a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Education degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She was the first person to enroll in graduate courses for  the Master of Education degree when the program started in 1978. In her 16 years of teaching, she taught language arts and social studies grades 7-9 and English and Spanish at the high school level. Ms. Dempsey also worked for thirteen years as an assistant principal and principal in New Hanover and Pender counties. She has worked closely with the teacher preparation programs in the Watson College of Education since 2002. During her tenure here, she has supported our school-university partnerships through the Professional Development System, taught undergraduate education courses, and supervised field experiences and internships.
