Discussion Questions

• How would you describe the family life of the Olympian gods? Are they an idealized family to serve as a model to humans? Are they a "cautionary tale"?
• What is marriage like for the Olympian gods? Look especially at the marriages of Zeus and Hera, and Ares and Aphrodite.  Are these ideas of marriage supposed to apply to human life?  Is it possible to tell how myths affect "real life?"
• What are some of the different elements that make up the "diverse character" of Zeus?
