Attendance is very important for success in a language class. More than two absences will affect your grade significantly. Additionally, there are daily vocabulary quizzes which cannot be taken late.
Homework, Workbook and Lab Manual: Complete assignments found on the pages you are assigned to read in preparation for each class. The icons for "Workbook" and "Lab Manual" are beside the corresponding exercise. The assignments will be given in class and will be listed on the web as follows:
Date | Lesson | Homework |
9.1. | NH: pp. 30-33 | p. 31 Übung 8 |
This means you will have read pp. 30-33 and done exercise 8 BEFORE coming to class on January 9th. But in addition you will also have completed Workbook exercises Kap. 1, B-D (as listed on page 30), WK E (p. 31), and WK F (p. 33) as homework. There are also corresponding lab manual exercises you are to have done (headphone icon).
All chapters have two vocabulary lists: Wortschatz 1 & Wortschatz 2. Each class 20 of these will be assigned for the next class quiz. Three quizzes will not count toward your grade, allowing for excused absences. Missed quizzes cannot be taken later, however there will be two opportunities to gain extra credit on quizzes.
You can listen to your lab assignments in the Foreign Language Resource Center in Leutze Hall 253, or you can burn your "Lab manual" chapters for oral comprehension using the computers in the FLRC. You will need to supply your own writable CD.
Honor Code: Students enrolled in this course must respect and abide by the Academic Honor Code of UNCW. This may be found in the Undergraduate Catalogue 2003-2004 on page 64.
