SUMMER IN BREMEN GERMANY

Second Summer Session

July 5 - August 4, 2006

In cooperation with the Hochschule Bremen's International Summer School of German Language, Culture and Business, UNCW will offer students an opportunity to take a German language course at any level.
The program begins in Bonn for a four-day stay in the scenic Rhineland, with excursions to Cologne and the castles and wine villages of the historic Rhine valley. The excursion is organized by the Academy for International Education. The program then moves to Bremen. Bremen is well suited for UNCW students as it is also a port city with a rich historical and cultural tradition. The program in Bremen includes a city tour, a concert, plant tours, field trips, and two excursions to neighboring cities, such as Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Hamlin.

HOCHSCHULE BREMEN

The HB is comparable to a four year university and masters program in the U.S. and, specifically, to UNCW due to its small size (about 7,000 students), excellent academic image, and acceptance by employers for providing quality experiences (internships, international focus) that are career oriented.

Bremen

The city of Bremen, in northern Germany, boasts a thousand year history and now covers about 404 square kilometres with a population of about 684,000. International trade has molded the character of the city for centuries and this legacy is reflected in the modern ports of Bremen and Bremerhaven. Major industries, such as coffee, beer, automobiles, and aerospace technology thrive in Bremen, offering excellent internship opportunities for exchange students. The charming old quarter, renaissance facades of the market square, and the nearby artists' colony contribute to the cultural wealth of Bremen.
