Description: Ever since Meliès showed that film has the means to transport us into another, fantastic, world, movies that show an alternative reality have become increasingly popular. This course will explore films that treat virtual reality as an alternative consciousness (Total Recall, The Matrix) and films that introduce a notion of the Virtual as a potential for (political) change (Groundhog Day, Run Lola Run).
