TUESDAY,
MAY 29, 2001

7 to 9 p.m.

Welcoming Reception, with refreshments. A sneak preview of the documentary film "A Spirit in the Land: The Amazing, Transforming Power of Local Churches."  This Pastoral Summit documentary features some of the parishes and churches, pastors and lay leaders you will encounter during the next three days.

WEDNESDAY,

Continental Breakfast (food for the body, included with your registration)
"Soul Breakfasts" - (food for the soul -- intimate sharing, small groups, key issues.)


8:45 to 9:15 a.m.

Morning Prayer


9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

First Period Workshops


10:30 to 11 a.m.

Coffee / Stretch Break


11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Second Period Workshops


12 to 1:30 p.m.

Lunch with Martin Marty - "All Religion is Local: The Protestant Perspective."
This renowned theologian, astute social observer, teacher, writer is, by his own description, first and foremost a pastor. He brings his insights into the role of local churches in transforming people - and the world.


2 to 3 p.m.

Third Period Workshops


3 to 3:30 p.m.

Refreshment / Stretch Break


3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Theology on Tap. Martin Marty joins you in a sharing of reflections on the role of churches, locally and globally.


5 to 6 p.m.

Pastoral Summit Community Liturgy - St. Peter Clavier Catholic Church. The exciting and well-known 60 voice choir and liturgical dancers from this African American New Orleans church will lead us in praise of the Lord at the end of this, our first day together.

Lunch with Andrew Greeley - "All Religion is Local: The Catholic Perspective."
Best-selling author, perceptive social scientist, teacher, Father Greeley is, at his heart, a parish priest. His views on what Catholic churches should and should not be about.

Sixth Period Workshops


3 to 3:30 p.m.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Theology on Tap. Andrew M. Greeley will lead a discussion of the current, crucial issues facing the Church.


5 to 6 p.m.

Pastoral Summit Community Liturgy - The vibrant choir, musicians and worship team of Full Gospel Church of God in Christ, New Orleans, invite us to end this day in worship and the singing of God's praises.

FRIDAY,
JUNE 1, 2001

8 to 9 a.m.

A Spirit in the Land : The Amazing, Transforming Power of Local Churches - Another showing of the documentary film followed by an open forum of questions and sharing of Pastoral Summit experiences with Paul Wilkes.


9:30 to 11 a.m.

A Festival of Churches
Concluding workship as the Pastoral Summit Community expresses its thanks and its solidarity as we all go forth to spread and live the Good News.
