OVERVIEW
The performing and visual arts offer children a unique way of responding to the world around them. They nurture the development of aesthetic sensitivity as well as personal and creative expression. It is hoped that in your teaching you will enable students to utilize creativity and imagination and to appreciate artistic expression among different cultures.
The course consists of experiences with drama, dance, vocal and instrumental music, and/or studio art. As a culmination of these experiences you will be expected to plan and execute lessons in an elementary classroom that demonstrate your ability to make connections between quality expressive arts and the academic needs of children. A presentation of the results of at least one of these lessons will be made to a jury of your peers. |
