Traffic Contract Parameters and Related Algorithms
The parameters included in the profile include:
- The maximum cell rate, known as PCR or Peak Cell Rate,
that can be sent over the connection in certain intervals (bursts).
- The maximum burst size (MBS) refers to how long a burst of cells at
PCR can last. A related parameter, called the burst tolerance (BT),
limits the time a source is allowed to send at its peak cell rate.
- The SCR, or Sustainable Cell Rate, is the maximum number of cells that
can be sent continuously over the connection. The SCR provides an
upper bound on the conforming average rate of a connection.
