Actually, I claim no authority to sanction or proscribe any particular language usage. My book merely reports that literate speakers and writers of English routinely split infinitives. Those of a prescriptivist bent who find such constructions objectionable might, as an exercise, attempt to move the adverb in the following sentence so as to un-split the infinitive:

The queen told the page to quietly enter the chamber where the king was sleeping.
