UNCW honor code
The following is the honor code of the University:
| The university is committed to the proposition that the pursuit of truth requires the presence of honesty among all involved. It is therefore this institution’s stated policy that no form of dishonesty among its faculty or students will be tolerated. Although all members of the university community are encouraged to report occurrences of dishonesty, each individual is principally responsible for his or her own honesty. |

The UNCW code states essential principles, but it is not a true
honor code, in that it is imposed and does not involve students in making a
pledge of personal honor.
ENG 321 honor code
The following is the voluntary honor code for ENG 321:
| I give my word that I will be honest and honorable in all my dealings in this course. I pledge that I will not cheat in any form and that I will not assist or allow others to cheat. On my honor, I pledge to my instructor and to my classmates that I can be trusted in all that I say and do in this course and that I will not betray the trust that others in this course place in me. |
Students should subscribe to the honor code for this course if and only if they wish to affirm that they are in full agreement with the values it asserts, if they are willing to make the serious personal commitment that it requires of them, and if they are confident that they will be able to comply absolutely with the principles of honor and honesty to which the pledge commits them.
