Discovering English Grammar, a college-level introduction to the structure of the English language, tries to answer those questions.  It assumes no prior study of grammar by its readers and is appropriate for students in all majors, including English, education, and linguistics—and for ESL students as well.  As its title indicates, it takes students through a process by which they discover how our language is constructed.  Although transformational in approach, the book focuses less on methodological problems than on providing students with a clear, accessible, and thorough understanding of English syntax.  Visit the following to learn more about the book:
