Mapping Digital Technology in Rhetoric and Composition History

About This Project

The purpose of this website is to disseminate and provide access to maps and data that document the history of digital technology in the field of Rhetoric and Composition. It works in tandem with J. Tirrell's dissertation Mapping a Geographical History of Digital Technology in Rhetoric and Composition. This website's most important function is to enable others to construct their own historical narratives by using this project's current resources and by contributing their own.

The sidebar at right, visible on every page, enables quick downloading of project files: Google Earth maps, the accompanying textual dissertation, and project data. It also provides a link to the desktop client version of Google Earth, which is available without cost for the Linux, Macintosh, and Windows platforms. These resources are the best way to engage the project. Alternately, the Maps page, Dissertation page, and Data page linked in the navigation menu above provide limited in-browser access to project resources.

All project data are released into the public domain. This website and the corresponding dissertation were created by J. Tirrell. Feel free to contact him through his website with any questions or comments.
