Singapore Visit

October 2008

(White tiger, Singapore Zoo)

The Tan family traveled back to Singapore for a family visit in October 2008. My son (age 2 1/2) did well on the long flight.

Singapore is one of the busiest ports in the world.

Singapore's downtown. The construction cranes are building one of Singapore's new "Integrated Resort/Casinos" designed to attract tourists, particularly newly monied People's Republic of China tourists.

Here are different ways people live in Singapore.  The first two shots are of Housing and Development Board apartments, public housing units bought by Singaporeans.  Because of this government program, most Singaporeans own their own homes.

The more well-off Singaporeans can afford private homes such as these townhouses in Bedok near my husband's parents' place.

Singapore has colorful areas like Little India and Chinatown.

Father and son.

Someone wasn't happy in this shot.

Singapore is known as the "Garden City." For a major metropolitan area, it is very green and lush.

More adventures to come . .. .
