Rethreading an Industry was produced in the Spring semester of 2008. The main idea of the exhibit is:
At the turn of the 20th century, the garment industry responded to increased consumer demands with a greater output of ready-made clothing. Garment workers of diverse backgrounds flocked to the cities in search of job opportunities. Instead, they encountered long hours, low wages, and poor working conditions. Refusing to accept their harsh treatment, garment workers used collective action to attempt to improve their situation and make lasting changes in American society.
