GRADING POLICIES

Evaluation will be an ongoing activity throughout the semester.  Feedback will be provided following observation by the university supervisor.  Partnership teachers also are asked to provide feedback.  The university supervisor will determine the final grade using all the data collected.  Letter grades will be given based on the following criteria:

A         Performance during student teaching is frequently outstanding.  Some teaching practices are demonstrated at the highest level while others are consistently high. The student teacher frequently seeks to expand the scope of competencies and often undertakes additional, appropriate activities. (Student demonstrates "4" or "5" level performance in each of the areas evaluated with the majority of areas rated "5").

B         Performance during student teaching is frequently high.  Some teaching practices are demonstrated at a high level while others are at a consistently adequate/acceptable level. The student teacher sometimes seeks to expand the scope of competencies and occasionally undertakes additional, appropriate activities. (Student demonstrates "4" level performance in the majority of areas evaluated with no "2" level ratings).

C         Performance during student teaching is consistently acceptable. Teaching practices fully meet all performance expectations at an acceptable level.  The student teacher maintains an adequate scope of competencies and performs additional activities as assigned. (Student demonstrates "3" level performance in the majority of areas evaluated with no "1" level ratings).

D         Performance during student teaching is sometimes inadequate/unacceptable.  The student teacher requires supervision and assistance, above that designed into the program, to maintain an adequate scope of competencies.  The student teacher sometimes fails to perform additional activities as assigned. (Student demonstrates "2" level performance in the majority of areas evaluated).

F          Performance during student teaching is consistently inadequate/unacceptable and most practices require considerable improvement to fully meet minimal performance expectations.  The student teacher requires close and frequent supervision in the performance of all responsibilities. (Student demonstrates "1" level performance in the majority of areas evaluated).
