Grading and Attendance

GRADING:

Homework will be assigned each class period and will be due the next. (It is essential that you read the text and spend time working out the assigned problems.)  I will give frequent quizzes, about one per week, to let you know how well you understand the material covered.  There are no makeup quizzes.  Each quiz missed is a zero, but this will not affect your grade until you miss more than two quizzes, since I will drop your two lowest quiz grades.  I will grade some homework and count it as a quiz.  Some of your homework will be online.  Your participation in the WebCT portion of this class, reading the announcements and modules for each chapter, will count as part of your grade.  I will give 3 tests during the semester, and a cumulative final exam.  There are no makeup tests without prior permission.  At anytime during the semester you can calculate your grade by dividing your total points by the total points possible, convert to a percent and use the following scale:
93-100% A, 90-92% A-
87-89% B+, 83-86% B, 80-82% B-
77-79% C+, 73-76% C, 70-72% C-
67-69% D+, 63-66% D, 60-62% D-
below 60% F
Attendance:  It is very important that you attend class regularly!  If you must miss class, the syllabus will let you know what we covered and you are responsible for doing the assigned work.  More than three absences is considered excessive.  Feel free to talk with me if you have an attendance problem.

If you are absent from three (or fewer) classes, you have the option of replacing your lowest test score with the percentage on your final exam.
