GLY 489 - Contemporary Issues in the Geosciences. The capstone course for the B. A. Geology degree. It is directed at integrating the variety of course and laboratory material into addressing geological or geoscience-related projects. Lecture (TR) will address topics such as experimental design, sample size and sampling strategies, scientific and public dissemination of data, as well as the "do's and dont's" of data presentation and interpretation. Three (3) directed projects ranging from large group exercise to individual "Instant Expert" poster presentation. GLY501 - Research Methods in Geology. Masters in Science in Geology Program. Introductory course in the techniques and methods used in geological research.

UNCW - Department of Geography and Geology Field Course
Dr. David Blake runs the Department's GLY 470 Geology Field Course (6 credit hours) every summer. Students from other North Carolina schools, as well as students from other universities can attend. For further information about the UNCW 2010 Geology Field Course contact Dr. Blake .
East Carolina - UNC Geology Field Course
In addition to being one of the instructors for this 6 credit hour summer field course in geologic mapping run through the Department of Geology at East Carolina University (ECU), I also help maintain the Geology Field Course homepage for them. The 2010 geology field course will be from mid- May to mid-June 2010 and examine geologic features in New Mexico and south-central Colorado. Students from the North Carolina schools (UNC-Charlotte, Chapel Hill, East Carolina) as well as students from other universities can attend.
