Motivational Speech

Good morning everyone!  My name is Michael Rowles, the Executive Vice President for Live Nation.  I would like to welcome all employees and express my deepest appreciation to all of you for coming out on such short notice.  I would like to say how graciously your hard work and dedication have paid off, but I believe we need to discuss the idea of setting better goals for our company.  I have discussed with the board, and we have talked about the issue of a strategic plan because we are not making satisfactory progress within the company.

From what we have discussed, the way we will now operate is based on the goals we already have.  The reason for this is that we all know what this company can and will become, therefore, we feel that our goals should not necessarily change, but there needs to be reform.  The strategic plan I am talking about, we feel, gives the company more of a focus and will allow us to meet our goals more quickly and efficiently.

Some of these goals may not be met in the immediate future, but most should provoke visible change in the next six months.  Defining a company is not a short process and we want to express this to all of you, but with everyone working together, we can better meet our objectives.

Live Nation is the world's largest live music company.  Our mission is to inspire passion for live music around the world.  We are the largest promoter of live concerts in the world, the second-largest entertainment venue management company and have a rapidly growing online presence.  We create superior experiences for artists and fans, regularly producing tours for the biggest superstars in the business, including The Rolling Stones, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, U2 and Coldplay.  Globally, we own, operate, have booking rights for and/or have an equity interest in more than 160 venues, including House of Blues music venues and prestigious locations such as The Fillmore in San Francisco, Nikon at Jones Beach in New York and London's Wembley Arena.  Our websites collectively are the second most popular entertainment/event websites in the United States, according to Nielsen//NetRatings.  In addition, we also produce, promote or host theatrical, specialized motor sports and other live entertainment events.  In 2006, we connected nearly 60 million fans with their favorite performers at approximately 26,000 events in 18 countries around the world.

I want each and every one of you to let that sit for a minute.

            Think about your accomplishments.

That is something to be proud of.

What we want to do is keep up with our progress and grow.  Things have dropped off as of late, and everyone is responsible for that, from our CEO, Mr. Michael Rapino, to myself, to our regional managers, down to our volunteer workers.  This company has the potential to be the best at what we do. We can be the best.  Eventually, I know we will be the best.

You might ask yourself, “Why am I going to push extra hard so my company can profit?”  As an incentive, more bonuses and employee awards will be created for you, the people who slave away for the benefit of the whole.  Your selfless acts will not be gone unnoticed.

Thank you all for your time.  Later this week you will all receive an email containing the specifics of our strategic plan.
